Why can't I download this ed2k stuff? I get an error message when I click a link.
You need to install a client program for the edonkey network.
You can use emule or eDonkey. These programs are free.

So what's best? They are all good ;)
Generally speaking torrents are faster downloads but a little more technical to understand, on the other hand things remain on the edonkey network for longer & emule is probably better for newbies but usually a bit slower download. DC has no web "links" you have join hubs to share with others and is good for one-to-one trading.

the most important thing is to always use the search
I think for web searching Google is best for search strings, Yahoo is good for single words.

There is an ancient and hallowed tradition: if you get a reply that reads “RTFM”, the person who sent it thinks you should have Read The Fucking Manual. He is almost certainly right. Go read it.

RTFM has a younger relative. If you get a reply that reads “STFW”, the person who sent it thinks you should have Searched The Fucking Web. He is almost certainly right. Go search it.

In Web forums, you may also be told to search the forum archives. In fact, someone may even be so kind as to provide a pointer to the previous thread where this problem was solved. But do not rely on this consideration; do your archive-searching before asking.

Often, the person telling you to do a search has the manual or the web page with the information you need open, and is looking at it as he types. These replies mean that he thinks (a) the information you need is easy to find, and (b) you will learn more if you seek out the information than if you have it spoon-fed to you.

You shouldn't be offended by this; by hacker standards, he is showing you a rough kind of respect simply by not ignoring you. You should instead thank him for his grandmotherly kindness.

Problems playing movies/audio
you may not have the correct codec's installed; a Codec Pack is a easy solution for newbies as they come with all the things you are ever likely to need, just remove any old codecs before installing new ones or updates. (note: some people prefer to add single codec's only as needed to prevent conflicts & overloading)

or
VideoLAN comes with it's own codecs built-in & will play almost everything even damaged & incomplete files & can be used to preview partial downloads

Foobar2000 comes with it's own codecs built-in & will play most audio formats straight out of the box

How to use subtitles
If compressed, unzip in the same folder as the movie file.
Check that the name of the titles is the same as the name of the avi.
if it is most players will play it automaticly, or look for a open subs feature in your player and pick the subtitle file.
It's usually possible to adjust if needed with subtitle controls, bigger,up,down etc
if your player doesn't play subs, look here for VobSub or DivXG400

hay, no problem, good effort and nice site you have there Image

I had made a similar package with everything you need for rip/encoding music cds as I couldn't find anything at the time, it's useful to others and saves having to track down all the bits one by one the next time I need to install them.
Kinda like the Gordon Knot package but for CDs

(if you are interested) EAC+.Exact.Audio.Copy.Plus.exe

...great minds think alike and all that Image
