On 360?, CNN's Anderson Cooper reports from Waveland, Mississippi, on the failures of the Bush administration and Dubya's cronies to provide adequate response and relief after about 80% of New Orleans were inundated following Superhurricane Katrina. He emphasizes that the rank-and-file of the Federal and State agencies is working 24/7 to bring relief; it is the higher echelons up to and including Bush that display a chilling arrogance and callousness in the face of the worst natural disaster yet to befall the USA.

Phone interview with Trent Lott. The Christian Right, nigger-hating ex-Majority Leader (the rebuilding of his destroyed weekend home in Pascagoula had already been announced by Bush the day before) gives a remarkably honest show of cynical arrogance, stating he was "pleased" with Federal response. He also had the chagrin to mock hurricane victims and those dying in New Orleans on air, callously suggesting that criticism of the Federal response is given by persons of failing sanity due to duress:
COOPER: "...Did the federal government fail?"
LOTT: "Absolutely not. Now, when you've lost everything you have, and when you've lost a loved one, and you're exhausted, and you haven't had a bath in four days, and you're hungry, and you don't have water and ice, and you don't have generator to run, a fan, you know, it's tough."
